Review: Sleeping Beauties

Sleeping Beauties Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well I'm sorry to say that this one is going down as DNF.
I've been trying so hard, but it's so slow moving that it's become a chore to read it. I've actually found myself avoiding reading just so I don't have to get into it again.
I know King books have a lot of filler, but this one is just too dull for me.

Review: Fiends

Fiends Fiends by Richard Laymon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Bit of a mixed bag really. Some good stories in here, some which I didn’t care much for.
Compared to Laymons other work that I’ve read, most of these were just alright.
Overall a decenct collection, but I think I’ll probably stick to his novels in future.

Review: Necroscope

Necroscope Necroscope by Brian Lumley
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I know I’m probably putting myself in the firing line by not liking this book, but I just couldn’t take to it.
I’ve reallt tried, but I don’t like the writing style at all. It’s alk just coming across as a little bit boring to me.
Sorry, I know the author and the book have legendary status, hence why I tried it, but this one just isn’t for me.

Review: Strange Weather

Strange Weather Strange Weather by Joe Hill
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I forgot about this book, being honest.
The first two stories I absolutely loved!
Didn’t like the second two at all.
So three stars. If it had only contained the first two stories then it would be 5 stars.

Review: Gwendy's Button Box

Gwendy's Button Box Gwendy's Button Box by Stephen King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fun, quick read.
Obviously I've read a fair few books by Stephen King before, but I've never read anything by Richard Chizmar.
Seeing as I'm going to be appearing in a book with him soon I thought I'd check this out.
Have to say I really enjoyed it. And I have to give big credit to Chizmar's writing!
How do I know who wrote which parts??!
Well, I don't, that's the point. The whole book flowed perfectly. I have absolutely no idea when one author stopped and the other started.
I won't go into the story, it'll only take you a day or so to read it. Just check it out, you'll enjoy it.

Review: The Ghost of Molly Holt

The Ghost of Molly Holt The Ghost of Molly Holt by Amy Cross
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My first read of Amy Cross.
I've heard the name mentioned many times, and even appeared in a few books with this author. Finally I decided to give her work a go.
Have to say that I'm very pleased that I did! This certainly will not be the last thing I read from Cross.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Really creepy, really tense and all round just a really fun read.

Review: Blaze

Blaze Blaze by Richard Bachman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

First impressions?
This book is basically a modern day "Of Mice and Men".
You've got the huge dumb guy who manages to stumble through like with the help of his smaller, smarter friend, George.
Honestly. When this book started I was waiting for the big guy to ask about the rabbits!
Once you got passed that, it actually turned out to be a pretty good story. Even though Blaze is quite blatantly the bad guy, you actually start to feel for him a little bit.
A fairly predictable ending, but an enjoyable read at least.
